The triumph of the New York Knicks in the NBA Finals vaulted the Uptown to the center of the sneaker universe anew, with an arena-detailed version of the Air Force 1 ’01 and a buttery orange-and-blue pair jumping out to become genuine chase products.
With the Kobe Bryant Air Force 1 “Rucker Park” recently coming to light, we confirmed that the silhouette’s odes to the Big Apple weren’t close to done. Yet it’s not just local hoops locales or teams that are inspiring Bruce Kilgore’s design. Retailer images of a Nike Air Force 1 Low ’01 with hidden Nike NYC branding (behind the tongue) and a plush suede upper, the first we’ve seen on the throwback build, have now come to light.
The big draw with this Air Force 1 Low is a MetroCard style hangtag, replacing the MTA’s branding and iconic ’90s block text with an enlarged Swoosh, making concrete the association between the city and the silhouette that’s been in the ether for decades. A tonal grey colorway with pinkish soles underfoot closes out this design with a refined overall aesthetic.
The Nike Air Force 1 “MetroCard” should be coming to Nike.com and retailers as part of the ongoing Fall/Winter ’26 slate. Retail pricing isn’t confirmed at the time of this writing.
