The Nike GT Cut 1 Enters The “Nike Nationals” Field

“Newness” has been Nike’s priority under the stewardship of Elliot Hill, a mandate felt throughout its sporting roster and especially influential in the realm of hoops shoes. The Nike Ja 4, KD 19, ST Charge, and countless other court-ready propositions communicate their futuristic goals from the jump. Yet sometimes it pays to not fix what isn’t broken.

The Nike GT Cut 1, returning to shelves just a few years after it took the hardwood community by storm in 2021/22, is absolute proof of that. So successful was the silhouette’s original run that it’s become a face of Swoosh Hoops for the second time in a decade, a tacit “signature” for Dylan Harper through almost half a dozen PE colorways and frequently factoring into seasonal collections under the sub-brand.

Even if the actual Nike Nationals event is in the books, having concluded at the end of July, Beaverton is tapping into that PE-to-public pipeline via an upcoming collection in its honor. After getting a look at the Sabrina 4 and A’Two included in the festivities, a natural tie between the girls’ exhibition and two of the foremost faces on Nike’s WNBA roster, the GT Cut 1 adds to the group. While the stealthy black and silver foundation here is one that the “Greater Than” model has sought out before, it’s the tropical blue/green gradient in the sole unit that adds energy and ties back to its aforementioned peers.

Interestingly, the Nike GT Cut 1 “Nike Nationals” was previously listed on U.S. retail release calendars before disappearing without a trace. It’s unclear whether this indicates a planned drop has been canceled, or if we should be expecting it to become a factor anew in the coming weeks.
