DTLR Goes Stealth Mode With The New Balance 2010 “Carbon”

It’s only natural that one of the DMV’s premier sneaker chains also has one of the strongest runs of New Balance retailer exclusives. DTLR has routinely proven to have its finger on the pulse in a region where New Balance has deep roots, and that instinct comes through on its first exclusive New Balance 2010, releasing August 5th in full family sizes.

The 99X-inspired model here takes on a stealthy black colorway distinguished by carbon fiber hits, tastefully applied to the underlays and uppermost lace holes. Carbon fiber has long been a favored accent material in the sneaker world, valued equally for its sleek visual appeal and inherent connection to automotive design. That association fits especially well within the DTLR x New Balance canon, with many of the retailer’s past exclusives drawing from the energy and movement of city streets after dark.

While bright accent colors have indeed become something of a DTLR hallmark, this pair is built more around everyday wearability. Black mesh and suede complement the various carbon fiber hits, while reflective 3M appears on the tongue, toe box, heel, and “N” logos. Black ABZORB pods disappear into a matching midsole, finished with a silver midfoot plate for a final bit of contrast.

The New Balance 2010 “Carbon” releases August 5th exclusively in-store and online at DTLR.com in full-family sizing. Return to our Where to Buy section below for purchase links on release day.
