Andrew Rizzo ASICS is following up the still relatively new GEL-Kinetic 2.0 with another addition to its premium Sportstyle lineup. Here we have our first looks at the ASICS GEL-Kinetic FR, a fresh blend of retro design cues with advanced lifestyle cushioning.
Retailer images show a relatively unique design compared to other ASICS Sportstyle members, the model framed around large quarter panels that bring to mind wrestling boots, stretching deep down around the forefoot on the sides. The heel introduces a new metallic panel for comprehensive coverage, while mesh spreads across the toe box. The midsole is rather distinct too, appearing thin around the forefoot before expanding around the heel to make room for the embedded scutoid GEL cushioning.
Two ASICS GEL-Kinetic FR colorways have been unveiled as of this writing, one in brown and gold and another in black and silver. Most “Kinetic” ASICS shoes are priced at $200-plus, and we have no reason to believe these will be any different. See official images below if you’re considering copping.
