Though the Mamba Invitational has already wrapped, the LA tournament has left us with plenty to discuss on the footwear front. On top of flexing “coming soon” colorways like the Kobe 3 Low Black and Kobe 3 Low “Grinch,” some player exclusives worn over the weekend have our attention, including the Nike Kobe 10 “Crimson/Purple” PE.

What you see is essentially what you get on this particular arrangement. A Magneto-approved ombre between red and purple handles the new uppers before pure white defines alternating Sheath and LA script logos. Per Jacques Slade, in attendance in the City of Angels, this is a pair specifically crafted by the Kobe Brand team to wear during the Invitational, and isn’t expected to hit the market.

However, this does continue the red carpet treatment for the Kobe 10 as a whole, potentially staring down its defining moment with this second act. For many Kobe enthusiasts, the prime of Bryant’s signature line stretched from the IV to the IX. Part of that is due to its appearance during some of the Mamba’s poorer statistical seasons, including his penultimate year in the league that culminated in a season-ending rotator cuff injury. However, it’s also due to what many describe as some middling tech, with the cushion and traction set-ups particular pain points.

In reassuring news, the Nike Kobe 10 Protro is set to be one of the more comprehensive retoolings in the line, introducing a fresh engineered mesh upper on top of addressing both aforementioned aspects. Cushlon 3.0 and a full-length Zoom Strobel handle the package underfoot, while a brand new traction pattern aims to make these fit for the modern game.

Again, this gradient Crimson/Purple Nike Kobe 10 Protro PE is not expected to release to the public at this time. You can window shop to your heart’s content via the in-person shots below, however.
