Official Images Of The Chevy x Nike Book 2 “Pretty Penny”

Chevy, Nike, and Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker are coming ’round the block again with a Nike Book 2 pack inspired by Book’s extensive car collection, delivering not one, but four styles inspired by ’50s and ’60s Chevy Impalas. The first colorway coincides with Detroit’s iconic Woodward Dream Cruise this weekend, with Devin’s second signature model receiving a color-matched “Metallic Red Bronze” style inspired by Book’s 1959 convertible nicknamed “Penny.”

As discussed back when the Chevy Nike Book 1 collection dropped last year, the collaboration is about as natural as they come, with Devin being a Grand Rapids-born car fanatic and General Motors being one of the “Big Three” car companies based in the Detroit metro area. As is important for both car and sneaker die-hards, the attention to detail is on point. Each of the four colorways matches the exact paint code of its automotive muse, all utilizing the Foamposite-esque Book 2 mold for a clearly similar candy paint-like effect.

The first colorway takes inspiration from Book’s 1959 Chevy Impala convertible he calls “Penny,” which previously inspired an unreleased Nike Book 1 PE back in 2024. Not to throw shade on that style, but the Nike Book 2 is far more intentional in its homage, taken with a more caramel-coded exterior and even incorporating the flag motif seen on the car’s chrome trim. The 1959 Chevy Impala is highly regarded as one of the crown jewels of mid-century automotive design, beloved by collectors for its batwing fins, cat-eye taillights, and generally dope, deeply considered design from front to back.

Three additional Chevy Impala-inspired Nike Book 2 styles are set to follow in the coming weeks/months, including a pale pink inspired by Book’s ’58 Impala, a silver makeup inspired by his ’62, and a dark brown inspired by his ’63. The Chevy Book 2 “Pretty Penny” drops in Detroit via SNKRS Pass on August 14th (with in-store pickup at Burn Rubber on 8/15), followed by a global launch on August 26th. Penny will also be one of the 40,000+ cars taking part in this year’s Woodward Dream Cruise on August 15th, probably with Devin himself behind the wheel.
