Matt Varga Stretching back for years, Nike, Inc. has often used their collab efforts as a tester or a preview of further inline efforts to come. Think of countless silhouettes that Stussy or Supreme has brought back into contention, or how Travis Scott’s initial Air Jordan 1 High led to “Mocha” aftershocks on that model for years and years after La Flame moved onto other palettes.
Levi’s partnership with Beaverton has already had a few such cycles, notably as their modern classic Jordan 4 led to several denim-coated editions. Clearly, their Air Max 95 has had similar impact, leading to various denim takes in the Air Max family. The Nike Air Max 90 is the latest to take on the concept, pairing the distressed, durable material on its sidewalls with a wwith suede wraparound sections and wide mesh. The multi-media lean continues onto the interior, curiously, where a fabric patch replaces the usual manufacturing stamp. To add some liveliness into this otherwise blacked-out palette, a birght red hangtag rounds out this overall package.
The Nike Air Max 90 “Black Denim” should be coming to shelves soon, already populating overseas retailers with an August 20th release date.
