After years of appearing in adidas campaigns, JENNIE is finally getting an adidas Originals shoe of her own—and few stars could give the Three Stripes a bigger platform. A first look at the adidas Superstar Square Ballet has surfaced, and we have a full breakdown below.
As a member of BLACKPINK and a global fashion force in her own right, JENNIE brings an enormous audience and considerable influence to a women’s footwear category that adidas has increasingly prioritized. The partnership now enters a new phase with the adidas Superstar Square Ballet, giving her own interpretation of an Originals icon while providing adidas with another potentially powerful vehicle to strengthen its momentum in women’s lifestyle footwear.
As its name suggests, the Superstar Square Ballet retains the DNA of the adidas Superstar while dramatically altering its proportions. The famous shell toe has been reshaped with a squared-off profile, while the upper has been stripped of traditional shoelaces in favor of an elastic midfoot strap. A small bow at the forefoot completes the ballet-inspired transformation.
Two colorways have surfaced thus far, both sticking closely to the Superstar’s most familiar palette. One features a white base with contrasting black Three Stripes and heel detailing, while its counterpart reverses the arrangement in black and white. Inside, a stitched label connects the adidas Originals Trefoil with JENNIE’s personal brand logo, confirming her involvement in the project.
Ballet-inspired sneakers are hardly unfamiliar territory for adidas Originals, as the brand has leaned heavily into the aesthetic as the ballet-flat and “sneakerina” movements over the last few years. The Superstar Square Ballet another interpretation of an increasingly crowded category, but JENNIE’s involvement gives that co-sign that young women will gravitate towards.
adidas recently began teasing the collaboration with a campaign starring JENNIE dressed in black-and-white adidas gear while performing ballet, providing an obvious preview of what was coming next.
