Bad Bunny and adidas are getting ready to expand the Badbo family, and the next version of Benito’s signature sneaker does more than simply chop off some material around the ankle.

Sneaker News has an exclusive in-hand look at the upcoming adidas Badbo 1.1, giving us our best opportunity yet to compare the new low-top against the original Badbo 1.0.

The most obvious difference is height. The Badbo 1.1 eliminates the padded interior construction of the mid-cut 1.0, creating a true low-top profile that forces some minor changes on the Trefoil, which goes from being positioned off-center near the rear of the 1.0 to directly at the center of the heel of the 1.1.

The layering of the upper has also been reworked to accommodate the lower shape, giving the new model a noticeably different flow from the side despite the clear similarities. The biggest change arrives at the toe-box, where the 1.1 shifts from the smooth toe to a T-toe construction that gives the low-top a sportier, more traditional sneaker appearance.

What remains is the star logo at the heel (although it is slightly smaller by our examination), the stitch-mark tab at the tongue, and the thick rope laces.

adidas Originals confirms with Sneaker News that this Badbo 1.1 is inspired by the coastline of Puerto Rico through a pleasant Chalk White, Grey, and Soft Pink color combo. A release is confirmed for later this year.
