Given his road back from injury, we couldn’t fault you for relegating Damian Lillard’s homecoming in Portland below the offseason fireworks associated with Jaylen Brown, Kawhi Leonard, or Giannis Antetokounmpo. Trust that in Blazers land, there’s nothing (on court, at least) that’s taking higher precedence. Who will win out in a suddenly crowded backcourt between he, Ja Morant, Scoot Henderson, Jrue Holiday, and Shaedon Sharpe is hopefully a good problem, but no matter the outcome, Damian Lillard and his adidas Dame X are ready to “Meet the Moment.”

That’s what the latest colorway for Lillard’s latest sig shoe promises, arriving without much advance warning on adidas.com and at partnering storefronts. While originally introduced in the same cycle as the Harden Vol. 9 and DON Issue #7, the silhouette has remained Dame Time’s representative on shelves beyond the usual one-year mark. No doubt, his injury is a major factor in its prolonged life cycle, but it begs the question as to what adi’s future plans are for the Blazers franchise icon. Those questions aside, the Dame X succeeds again with this tri-tone arrangement, keeping to a slick synthetic base in black before adding fiery orange trim in the upper and a viridescent gradient underfoot.
