Andrew Rizzo The premium nature of New Balance’s Made in England line goes deeper than the product itself. Time and again, it’s echoed in Flimby’s choice of collaborator, from Aimé Leon Dore to Drake’s to mfpen and countless other names synonymous with elevated lifestyle.
The latest name to author a Made in England collaboration is London-based jeweler Bleue Burnham, soon set to release his take on the New Balance 991v1 silhouette. A rich brown suede construction holds down the upper, met with multicolor contrast stitching throughout. The insoles arrive in the jeweler’s signature baby blue, while brown and sage green laces round out the package.
Alongside designing the sneaker, New Balance and Burnham came up with the idea to create a garden for New Balance’s Flimby factory, a brand-new space built for the factory’s employees as a restorative retreat. The colors of the garden, as well as the soil it’s planted in, inspired the brown colorway of the shoe and its colorful contrast stitching.
