Matt Varga In the shuffle of the Nike AirWorks program, the heavy push behind the Air Max 95, and various other retro efforts, perhaps it’s easy to lose track of the Nike Air Liquid Max. We’ve had our eyes on this year’s Air Max Day silhouette even after its Yeat-assisted debut has sunken further into the rear view, and some of its developments have been plenty intriguing even as its taken on a more low-key cadence.
Much the same way as the Air Max Dn toyed with its haptic print uppers as it worked its way through its lifespan, the Air Liquid Max has taken liberties with some of its core selling points as the months have gone on. Of course, the “Liquid” cushioning angle remains untouched, but the poison dart frog inspo in the upper has changed shape, recently embracing a sound wave-like upper arrangement for a limited run of colorways. For this “Black/Clear” colorway, we return to the “traditional” format, approaching a “Triple Black” colorway but utilizing subtle translucent blue underfoot to avoid blacking out entirely.
The Nike Air Liquid Max “Black/Clear” should be hitting shelves in short order, retailing for $220 upon arrival.
