Andrew Rizzo Nobody’s doing lifestyle shoes like New Balance right now, the Boston brand continuing to unleash new models at a torrid pace and then following them up with different spinoffs. The New Balance 2000, originally touted as a modern, almost futuristic use case for ABZORB SBS cushioning when it debuted last year, continues its run with something of an aesthetic switch-up, skewing more traditional via a brand new “Luxe” version with classic layering.
Joining a “Thunder Brown” colorway among rollout looks is another monochrome makeup, this one done in “Horizon Grey.” The New Balance 2000 Luxe, or 2000L for short, takes after silos like the 2002R and 1906R with defined layering across the upper, including dedicated panels for the toe, “N” logos, and eyestays. This “Horizon Grey” treatment, while lighter than the brand’s core grey, does well to align with New Balance heritage looks.
The 2000L is one of a few New Balance 2000 variants seen thus far, joined by the 2000S (sleek) and a new retro mold seen on an upcoming white and navy colorway. If the 2000 proves to be anything like the 1906R family, plenty more could be in the works as well.
