Matt Varga Spooky season is upon us, as is another edition of Nike’s SNKRS Verified programming, the Swoosh wresting the reins back on their upcoming drops. In this latest look-ahead, it’s all systems go for the Nike Air Force 1 Low. Again demonstrating that instead of allowing the Uptown to recede from view, it’s staying just as prolific, only with true special editions making up the bulk of its efforts; the Nike Air Force 1 ’01 “Nightmare” is the latest.
Building off of a solid Nike Halloween 2026 slate overall, the Air Force 1 ’01 “Nightmare” files into a lineage alongside winking Jason Vorhees and Ghostface homages. Though explicated as an interpretation of “vintage cinema tropes,” the evenly spaced rivets and black/red detailing in the spaces between conjure up Hellraiser’s antagonist Pinhead. Even if it’s a bit macabre, we have to give credit to Beaverton designers for the blood red edges that peek through the slits in the upper and surround the Swoosh, ensuring that these do right by the true horror fanatics.
