The New Balance 992 accounts for three of this season’s releases, offering up Teddy Santis-curated styles spanning three vasty different aesthetics. Sneaker News recently had a chance to catch in-person looks at all three, embedded below alongside release dates and brief design breakdowns.
New Balance 992 “Medusa Green/Cortado/Thunder Brown” – Releasing October 29th
The 992 pipeline begins October 29th with the “Medusa Green/Cortado/Thunder Brown” colorway, a wonderfully autumnal, 1990s L.L.Bean coded take on the model with split color blocking and a surprising material choice. The top half of the upper cycles through mesh, leather, and basketball-inspired leather on the tongue in Medusa Green, punctuated by a white “N” logo border and white inner lining. The mudguard and midsole, meanwhile, fill out the bottom half in Cortado and Thunder Brown.

New Balance 992 “Black/Afterglow/NB Navy” – Releasing November 19th
It’s always a risk when a New Balance Made in USA shoe opts for all-leather, but we’d say the second 992 drop of the season turns out quite nicely. The mudguard and quarter paneling are cut from thick black leather with chalked edges, followed by NB Navy underlays and white mesh. The midsole ties in with a healthy splotch of khaki around the heel.

New Balance 992 “Sport Green/Interstellar/Arctic Grey” – Releasing December 17th
New Balance saved the best 992 of the season for last. If you’re familiar with Stray Rats’ New Balance collabs, you’re bound to be a fan of these as well. The shoe goes colorful yet just muted enough for some styling versatility, opting for Sport Green suede overlays and some nice pops of Interstellar purple on the underlays, tongue patch, and other ancillary elements. The inner lining, “N” logos, and laces arrive in Arctic Grey for even more flavor.
