Should Nike drop these?

A 3D-Printed Air Max Mule Is The Latest To Come Out Of Nike’s Air Works Program

Nike’s inaugural Air Works program continues its rollout of experimental footwear with Los Angeles-based creative Masyn unveiling his own 3D-printed Air Max silhouette, developed in partnership with Nike and Zellerfeld.

Despite living in a town rife with aspiring celebrities, Masyn drew inspiration from the everyday people who have shaped his life. Friends, family, and mentors serve as the foundation of the design, which features a constellation of stars extending across the upper and outsole.

One particularly thoughtful detail appears underneath the shoe, where a large embossed star leaves a star-shaped footprint with every step. The feature symbolizes the lasting impressions that the people closest to Masyn have left on his life.

The footwear itself takes the form of a mule, a deliberate choice intended to blur traditional masculine and feminine design conventions. Its sculptural, 3D-printed construction represents the creative freedom afforded by Nike’s collaboration with Zellerfeld.

Masyn officially unveiled the design at a friends-and-family celebration at NOVA studios in West Hollywood, where the event honored the community that inspired the project.

The Los Angeles designer is part of Nike’s inaugural Air Works class, which brings together creatives from around the world to explore new possibilities for Air Max through 3D-printing technology. The program’s designs are being revealed individually, with each reflecting its creator’s personal experiences and community.
