Jordan Brand’s celebration of the 30th anniversary of Space Jam is extending beyond the basketball court, with Taiwanese baseball star Chen Jiexian receiving his own player-exclusive version of the Air Jordan 11 cleats.
The special-edition footwear features the same matte purple upper seen on the upcoming retail Air Jordan 11 “Space Jam” cleats, but with the spiked outsole tooling of Nike’s Alpha Huarache Elite baseball series, creating a hybrid that combines the iconic basketball silhouette with equipment designed specifically for the diamond.
The PE maintains the familiar shape of the Air Jordan 11, a sneaker famously worn by Michael Jordan during the Chicago Bulls’ historic 1995-96 season and featured prominently in the original Space Jam film. The monochromatic purple finish gives the silhouette an entirely different appearance from the classic black-and-white colorway most commonly associated with the movie.
While the matte purple Air Jordan 11 cleats are scheduled for a retail release, Chen Jiexian’s Alpha Huarache Elite-equipped version is a player exclusive and is not currently expected to be available to the public.
