Kobe Brand continues to build out its basketball-to-lifestyle ecosystem with matching takes on the Nike Air Force 1 Low, further establishing the silhouette as a staple within the growing sub-brand. The latest pairs with the upcoming Nike Kobe 6 Protro “Coals” dropping on Christmas, translating the shoe’s theme and overall aesthetic onto the Beaverton brand’s most iconic model.
The Kobe Bryant Air Force 1 series has been a regular thing for about two years now, with Kobe Brand steadily carving out a lifestyle presence through designs inspired by Bryant’s personal PEs, original concepts, and in this case, companion releases tied to his signature basketball line. This latest iteration starts with a lenticular snakeskin upper in varying shades of grey, offset by a black midsole and matching inner lining. The “Coals” connection comes through in the details, with hits of Venom Green framing the Swooshes on both sides. Purple Venom then takes over the tongue tag and the Kobe sheath logo on the backtab.
If only for the “Grinch” connection and the fact that it’s a Kobe 6, the “Coals” Protro figures to be one of Nike Basketball’s strongest Christmas drops in recent memory. Nike is supporting the launch with more than just this Air Force 1, also penning a Nike Vapor Edge Kobe 6 football cleat a la the “Grinch” from 2024. We wouldn’t be all too surprised to see some of that energy carry over to both companions, though obviously not to the same extent.
A release date for the Kobe Bryant Nike Air Force 1 Low “Coals” has yet to be announced, though the Kobe 6 Protro “Coals” is slated to arrive on Christmas Day. Check out the retailer images below for a closer look if you’re considering adding a pair to your collection.
