Ja Morant’s Portland Trail Blazers tenure hasn’t been picture perfect, but contrary those who questioned his fit with hometown hero Damian Lillard or defensive stalwart Jrue Holiday, it hasn’t been the on-court product that’s been the hang-up. No, it’s the injury bug that’s spoiled a cinderella start in the PNW. Still, though #1 has been cheering on his squad from the bench instead of piloting their efforts, it’s hard to argue with the current #1 seed in the Western Conference.
Now, he’s making the most of his time on the reserved list by sharing a range of collegiate player exclusives for his Nike Ja 4. It’s another moment where Mr. Morant has taken the “leak” game by the horns, sharing in-box images directly via his Instagram Stories. LSU, Duke, Oregon, Kentucky, Arkansas, and of course, Murray State make the grade, each bringing their team colors to Ja’s fourth silhouette.
While the color-blocking remains intact as you page through this range, these Ja 4’s do break a bit from PE convention, in which school’s pairs typically only differ by the shades and team emblems they use. Interestingly, the Tigers’, Blue Devils’, and Ducks’ utilize metallic finishes on the Swoosh and the JA-plate before the Wildcats’, Razorbacks’, and Racers’ cast their vote for opaque counterparts.
Of course, these Nike Ja 4 college PEs are indeed exclusive to the athletes themselves. However, though the public pair is likely to differ from the one shown here, Ja and Nike have carved out space for a “Murray State” general release during the lifespan of each of his signature shoes.
