Sneaker News Off-White Jordans are a mighty duo that has yet to disappoint. Whether it be with the Air Jordan 1 or the Air Jordan 4, Virgil Abloh’s distinct modifications have spawned an era of the DIY-look championed both by brands and at-home creatives. For his next escapade with Jordan, Virgil Abloh went back into the vault. Literally. Inspired by the natural aging of EVA midsoles of vintage pairs, the Off-White founder looked to re-create the eroded look of the Air Jordan 2 midsole first by replicating the mold of a decayed sole and encasing it in a transparent synthetic to achieve the OG-on-your-feet look.
Virgil then added his mainstay touches, such as the attached zip-tie, the Helvetica text on the medial, and the exposed sponge at the ankle in continuation of his signature style. Some new additions include the placement of Michael Jordan’s insignia on the snakeskin-textured upper, the thinned out tongue, and a shadowy visage on the insoles. Even the shoebox speaks to his methodical vision for this design; he adds the large circular holes on the exterior lid, while the main container is completely see-through – matching the clear nature of the soles.
