The late Spring means one thing: hitting the sunny outdoors for a solid 18 with your pals. As golf continues to grow in popularity, Nike has been delivering some exciting footwear options that have plenty of appeal to sneakerheads who want a bit more than the classic saddle shoe look. The Air Max 90 has steadily filled that void, and this upcoming NRG release not only depicts a seasonal traditional, but also alludes to a 50th Anniversary of an annual company event that began in 1972.
This upcoming Air Max 90 Golf “Picnic” is draped in red/white gingham plaid uppers while wicker-like mesh on the tongue and ankle collar – both common sightings in these communal outdoor get-togethers. Perhaps the best feature is the custom tongue labels designed to look like ketchup and mustard condiment labels and individual packets (specifically that of Heinz, although there’s no direct connection with the brand). The insoles denote the aforementioned event – specifically the 50th Annual Family Picnic.
A release is set to arrive in the coming weeks; see the official images ahead.
