Michael Le Few amongst Japan’s fashion companies can rival the impressive scale of BEAMS, whose operations include not only a vast network of storefronts but also a successful catalog of house brands. They’re constantly delivering a drove of collaborative efforts, too; and for Fall/Winter 2022, the retailer is teaming up with ASICS for a mosquito-proof take on the much-beloved GEL-Kayano 14.
The BEAMS x ASICS GEL-Kayano 14 is part-modular, as the overlaid shroud — whose super fine mesh is akin to the material of mosquito-repellant apparel and gear — can be removed thanks to the snaps and zipper around the forefoot and heel, respectively. The adjacent Fidlock strap, though not as integral to the net’s own security, ensures a further locked down fit, and simultaneously complements the utilitarian look of the blacked-out, GORE-TEX upgraded paneling underneath.
Finished with subtle co-branding and a cream-brushed midsole, the BEAMS x ASICS GEL-Kayano 14 is scheduled for a wider release on October 28th.
