Sneaker News While the 550 remained as its focal point for years, NYC-based Aimé Leon Dore is now leaning heavily towards the technically sound retro runner in 2023. After a trio of New Balance 860v2 dropped to much fanfare, the brand simply referred to as “ALD” is readying the 1906R for a drop in the early summer.
Officially unveiled here, the Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 1906R comes dressed in the elegant forest green and gold, with a cream mesh base and white leather capping the toe and heel. The outsole consists of the 2002R cushioning system.
Much of ALD’s appeal is its ability to tug at nostalgic heartstrings; much of the apparel is compared to “preppy” wear from the 1990s, while other throwback ephemera in the form of vintage Porsches and dusted Air Jordans help maintain its appeal. The 1906R certainly fits into that direction with its retro look.
New Balance confirms a release on newbalance.com on May 4th for $170.
