While the information hasn’t been confirmed by Nike, Inc. (and understandably so given that 2023 isn’t over yet), the rumor has been shared by reliable sources @zSneakerHeadz and Sneaker Files. Throughout the last decade, the Jordan Brand has revisited the sneaker’s original colorways, helping bring in some of the highest sales numbers in Nike’s history in the process. The only remaining color scheme to retro had been a “White/Columbia Blue/Black” ensemble first launched in 1996. Michael Jordan only wore the clean makeover of his eleventh signature model during that year’s NBA All-Star Game, but the sneaker has long-been championed for its fresh arrangement and connection to the University of North Carolina.
In 2014, the Jumpman family dropped the Air Jordan 11 “Legend Blue” to mixed results. While many fans – old and new – enjoyed the straightforward pair, others wished Jordan’s eponymous label would’ve kept things true-to-the-original from ’96. It’s very likely, however, that the next release of the mostly-“White” Air Jordan will follow Tinker Hatfield’s blueprint more faithfully as it’s been a trend with some of the brand’s more popular silhouettes over the last handful of years. Semi-translucent outsoles could revert to a non-“Legend Blue” finish in order to resemble the debut “Columbia Blue” pair; the recent “Gratitude” Air Jordan 11 featured a slightly-yellowed traction that harkened back to the original “Concord” pair. Unless the “Columbia” style also receives the “Reimagined” treatment that’s recently landed on silhouettes from I to IV, the next release should be barely discernible from a 28-year-old pair.
Official photos of the retro will likely surface by Summer 2024. If the rumor of the Jordan 11 “Columbia” returning is true, the pair is expected to hit Nike SNKRS in full-family sizing by December 20th, 2024. Pricing will range from $230 USD (Men and Women) to $60 USD (Crib).
