Action Bronson
Action Bronson (real name Ariyan Arslani) is a cultural maverick from Queens, New York City, a chef-turned-rapper who now stands as one of the more significant movers in the footwear world. Though most now know him for his work with New Balance, Action Bronson has managed partnerships throughout his career. He released a capsule with PRO-KEDs in 2012 and further made a splash with adidas in 2018, their splashiest moment coming with two collab Ultra Boosts.
However, the whole way through, the multi-hyphenate was never shy about his love for the suede runner styles that ruled the early 2010s, a scene dominated by brands like ASICS, Saucony, and, of course, New Balance. The mutual respect between the two cultural mainstays finally led to an official partnership in 2023, the duo coming together to release two New Balance 990v6 colorways.
While the Boston brand’s collaborative roster has grown exponentially in recent years, 2024 stamped Action Bronson as among the most important faces of that group. Look no further than the wide acclaim for their New Balance 1906R capsule; each of the “Medusa Azul,” “Rosewater,” and “Scorpius” pairs were instant sellouts and currently command a ton of attention in the annual “sneaker of the year” conversations.
With so much success even in the early goings of this formal partnership, Action Bronson / New Balance is showing no signs of slowing down. Their latest capsule tackles the fitness-minded turn Bam Bam has undergone in recent years, ushering the barefoot-inspired Minimus Trail and the Fuel Cell Rebel v4 Trail Runner into his oeuvre.
