Deion Sanders Shoes
Deion Sanders, AKA Coach Prime as he’s known now, served as Nike’s signature NFL athlete in the 1990s. His immense popularity during his playing career led to five editions of his Nike Air DT Trainer being released from ’93 to ’98. Though his on-field career ended in the early 2000s, their merchandising deal stayed in place until 2009, when Prime instead inked paperwork to join Under Armour.
As the 2020s started and Sanders became a walking headline as the coach of Jackson State and later Colorado, interest in his sneaker line began picking up once again. As a result, Nike and Sanders revived their relationship towards the middle of 2023. Their renewed partnership immediately paid dividends for Coach Prime’s squad, with Colorado players sharing looks at their PE Deion Sanders shoes, most clad in the jagged sawtooth design of the DT Trainer series.
Those trademark Deion Sanders shoes returned in 2024, the Nike Air DT Max Trainer ’96 coming back in OG fashion. It was an instant sell-out in its initial shock drop and its wider release in June. Sanders himself spoke out after the release, promising those who struck out on the DT Max 96’s first retro that more colorways were coming down the pike. The dawn of the 24-25 College Football season paid that off, with the “Colorado Home” and two “Colorado Away” colorways landing in September, followed by the DT Max ’96 “Falcons” in November.
