One of the little differences that separated the OG Air Jordan XI retail pairs from the PE ones was the occasional appearance of the stitched on numbers for the back end. Of course, the retail version had the numbers as well-they were just applied in a slightly different manner. Shown here is an Air Jordan XI “Columbia” featuring that detail, one that appears to have been made for Michael Jordan himself. You’ll recall that that was a colorway MJ brought out at that year’s NBA All-Star, so there’s a slight chance that this may even be that very pair. After leading the Los Angeles Clippers to their best season in history, Chris Paul sits on the sidelines after losing out in a hotly contested series against the Memphis Grizzlies. This leads us to wonder where the All-Star point guard will end up after his unrestricted free agency is resolved, and unfortunately means we won’t see him work any more magic on court this year in the Jordan CP3.VI AE. One place he won’t end up is Chicago, so this Bulls colorway ends up indirectly themed around 1s with serious 23 overtones. The latest CP3.VI AE is depicted further after the jump and available now at Jordan Brand retailers like Titolo (And additional US shops).

You’ve gotta figure that Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra could probably get his hands on any Nike LeBron release his heart desires, right? It looks like he might be more of an Air Jordan man though. Spoelstra showed up to the recent conference for LeBron James’ latest MVP Award with blatant disregard for any sort of dress code-shirt tucked into his cargo shorts and the Air Jordan IV “White/Cement” on feet. The Air Jordan V “Melo” looks like it just might arrive at retail as one of those rare occasions wherein a PE looking pair makes its way beyond the feet of the connected player. The sneaker, an obvious Carmelo Anthony tribute, would join the ranks of the “Knicks” Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG from earlier this year as one of the more NYC-leaning retro looks of all time. The Air Jordan XI has been a sneaker selected for formal outfits ever since Boyz II Men hit the stage in a set of Concords. Jason Sudeikis is the latest person to uphold that time-honored tradition, breaking out a pair of the Air Jordan XI “Bred” at last night’s 2013 Met Gala event uptown in NYC (He even matched them up with his pocket square for extra points). Does such an event warrant some hard bottoms or do you think Jason Sudeikis gets a free pass with his Air Jordan XI “Bred” here? It can be argued that the Air Jordan X is the simplest (in terms of design) Air Jordan ever created. After all, the upper is built with basic leather with just a few distinguishing layers on the mudguard and lace placket giving the shoe any sort of real character. In 2006, Jordan Brand created these seamless samples with colored leather in several different ones like yellow, red, orange, and more. Despite the flat, no-sew upper, these have a ton of character to ‘em and this sort of tonal colored sneaker might not have fared well back in 2006. Would these be a bigger hit if they released this year, or are these samples a bit too out of the ordinary? It looks like the Air Jordan 1 “Black Toe” retro will arrive on one of the busier days of the year in terms of sneaker releases. That would be May 25th, a day that will see restocks of the Air Jordan III ’88 and the Air Jordan IV “Thunder”, along with the retail debut of two separate LeBron styles and a brand new Kobe. Could the hectic day possibly spread the traffic out a bit, making certain sneakers easier to pick up? Or will the Air Jordan 1 “Black Toe” be the most-sought after item for the day? We continue our string of insane sneaker collections on Instagram with a focus on PEvault – a collector with a distinct taste for the rarest Player Exclusives in Air Jordan and Nike Basketball form. We’re certain that what he has up on his Instagram profile is just a snippet of what has in his “PE vault”, but what he shows us is ridiculously impressive – the Air Jordan IV “Laser” samples given to Melo right after the Olympics, the Air Jordan V Ray Allen PE during his Seattle days, an Air Jordan IX Low for former NFL Runningback Marshall Faulk, and a lot more.
