When you think of skate videos, fisheye lenses and underground hip-hop come to mind. The cameraman is typically riding himself, often with the lens held low so you can catch the tricks from near ground level. This sort of perspective not only lends a signature aesthetic but magnifies the significance of most tricks, something that apparently can be beautifully achieved with a more cinematic approach. In Paul Rodriguez‘ “It’s Different on My Mountain” spot for his sponsor Mountain Dew, P-Rod is seen skating in a variety of locales with crisp visuals, the climax of which is an extended shot that leaves you guessing till the end.
