The Nike LeBron 8 V2 is a Flywired-out LeBron 8 that drastically reduces the weight of the shoe without sacrificing the stability and support offered by full-grain leather or suede. In place of the carbon-fiber uppers are Flywire panels on a translucent shell comparable to the upper of the Nike ACG Ashiko Boot, with a fully-ventilated base layer underneath. Like preparing a stock car for a race, Jason Petrie and the engineers behind the V2 cut weight wherever possible, even if it meant stripping the tongue of leather/suede and replacing it with the Flywire shell material. LeBron’s signature shoes with Nike have been somewhat criticized for being too heavy, but the V2 could possibly be the lightest LeBron signature shoe ever created.
