Dr. King’s birthday is celebrated on the third Monday of every January, and Durant is scheduled to battle Kobe Bryant and the Lakers on that momentous day. Kobe will surely have a MLK Jr. Day PE for that game as well (perhaps the Black History Month colorway we showed you over the weekend). Kevin Durant’s MLK Day joints feature a black upper with a special texture that appears to be a tribute to the African art tradition of facial scarification. Additional gold accents on the swoosh, Flywire outrigger, and KD logo on the tongue provide a regal touch to this colorway commemorating one of the most influential people in history.
