Plenty of sneaker designs have been based on adult beverages over the past few years, but there’s only one store who’ll release a collaboration for which you’ll actually have to be carded. Barcelona’s 24 Kilates is famous for authoring the Tres ZZZ Asics Gel Lyte Speed that came packaged with a traditional wineskin and a bottle of Spanish red wine, and they’re back at it again, this time with a different brand known for its classic runners. The 24 Kilates x New Balance ML581 is inspired by El Camino de Santiago or St. James’ Way, a pilgrimage route that ends at the cathedral where the saint was supposedly laid to rest. Along with the hunting-style NB581s, you’ll get 70mL bottles of Los Peperetes coffee and herbal liqueur distilled with water from the nearby Galacian estuaries, plus a couple tins of food that might be too ‘fancy’ to consume (octopus in olive oil, anyone?). Click through to see more of this palette-expanding collabo, let us know how they compare to the other ML581 collabos we’ve seen so far, and get ready for these to arrive at select retailers on Saturday, January 7th.
