Their first MT580 was so good that not only was it the highest ranking New Balance release in the Sneaker News Top 30 of 2010, but Burn Rubber is going to double up for the second go-round. The Burn Rubber x New Balance MT580 ‘Workforce Pack’ also duplicates a theme found on the upcoming ‘Workwear Pack’ of 574s, but a split between ‘blue collar’ and ‘white collar’ inspirations gives these a unique identity. One could even read deeper and find the past and present of Burn Rubber’s hometown of Detroit, the once booming auto capital of the world that’s enjoying the early stages of a renaissance by attracting IT companies with affordable rents and plenty of skilled workers. But even if you just want to enjoy the shoes at their surface level, there’s plenty of skill apparent there as well, with the above pictured dark grey edition offering a luxurious build juxtaposed against the gritty inspiration. The ‘white collar’ joints should be on the way in March, but for now, it’s certain that this Burn Rubber MT580 ‘Blue Collar’ will be out at select NB retailers like Concepts on February 1st.
