Of all the modifications Nike Sportswear has applied to its classic running library in recent years, this one might just be the closest to the original design. But if you’ve owned a pair of AM97s and then pick up the newly feather-light Nike Air Max 97 Hyperfuse, it becomes clear the reason is not that nothing has changed in fifteen years. It’s true that the OG ‘Silver Bullet’ colorup is faithfully reproduced here on the welded mesh build, but more than evidence of a minor update, the squint-or-you’ll-miss-it shift reminds us that NSW’s techiest mainstay to this day looks the part of a contemporary performance machine.
