Barring any unforeseen circumstances, it seems that Derrick Rose will indeed be back for the 2013-14 NBA season. Keep in mind that he’s been cleared to play for a while now, but he opted to sit it out during the playoffs with his long-term career in mind, and when he does make that return, the adidas Rose 4 will be his signature shoe. His previous sig, the adidas Rose 3, ended up a rather underrated model as a whole, and despite a solid design it seemed like the community at large wasn’t really checking for the shoe, as there wasn’t the necessary star power behind it (although consumers in China made the Rose line a massive hit). There was no Rose to make those highlight plays in the model that would drive folks to pick them up, an element that’s long been key in moving new basketball signature shoes, but that doesn’t meant there was any shortage of great releases – think the “Nightmare”, “Electricity”, and much more. With the adidas Basketball landscape shifting a little since the injury, can Rose’s line regain its footing when (if) he makes his long awaited return this Fall? In terms of design alone the adidas Rose 4 definitely has what it takes, staying true to the shape of the previous iteration while bringing in changes like a new lacing system, as well as a pieced off back end that seems to offer a bit more support.
