Nike Celebrates Kevin Durant’s First NBA MVP Award

Kevin Durant Mvp

Kevin Durant’s winning pedigree was sensed early on in his career, but what leaves us in awe is that he’s established himself so early. By his third year in the NBA, he solidified himself as the single most dangerous scoring threat in the league. He proved himself to be an anchor of a ship that would head for Championship waters year in and year out. In 2012, his name was recognized on a global scale when he helped lead Team USA to gold. While individual accolades are nothing new to the OKC Thunder megastar, the one he just received today is truly the first step toward being recognized as one of the greatest players to ever touch a basketball.

Nike has been with KD since Day 1. The brand developed a unique point of view on a signature shoe by selling a superstar’s sneaker at a bargain price, and as we approach the end of the cycle for the immensely popular KD 6, you can plainly see the reflection of Durant’s rise to greatness through his shoes. The vision and planning between shoe and player were in sync (last year’s KD 6 launch event in Seat Pleasant being a perfect example of that synergy), and as Durant eventually becomes the uncontested elite player in the NBA, the Nike KD signature sneaker will unquestionably be the most popular sneaker on the planet. To celebrate KD’s achievement, Nike unveils this special edition t-shirt, but for those of you who are hungry for more KD 6 sneakers, not to worry – there’s a NIKEiD KD 6 “MVP” Option coming. Check out the shirt below and head to Nike.com to purchase your own.
