The 25th Anniversary of the Asics Gel Lyte III has been an applause-worthy celebration thus far as the world’s best sneaker boutiques have placed their best foot forward to give life to some outstanding concepts on this heralded silhouette. Next in line is VILLA, a footwear retailer that not only offers the finest in sneakers, but performs honorable outreach to invigorate the community. For their collaboration with Asics, the multi-door shop enlisted the help of hip-hop and sneaker extraordinaire Wale, a DMV native who is celebrated for his immersion in the sneaker game as he is for his verses.
Titled the “Bottlerocket”, Wale, VILLA, and Asics embarked on a July 4th-themed design that implements patriotic hues of red, white, and blue and starry graphics on the split-tongue overlay. Speckle print on the midsole and reflective effects on the the black laces emanate the explosive nature of the holiday novelty.
