adidas Futurecraft Features A 3-D Printed Midsole

Adidas 3d Printed Shoe Detailed Look Summary 620x435

Kanye recently stated that one of his main concerns with the future of sneakers was 3D printing technology because of the capability to rip-off designs. “This is what I’m afraid of — because the Internet destroyed the music industry and now, this is what we’re afraid of right now with the textile industry,” he said, continuing to say that “there will come a time when people are making their shoes at home.”

While that looks to be a few years in the future from being an actual problem (or awesome technological advancement full of possibilities depending on how you view it), adidas is making strides with the technology with the adidas Futurecraft, a model that utilizes a full-length 3-D printed midsole. The new production technology offers a completely individual cushion and support system for every runner’s unique foot structure. By the time the Futurecraft project is set in motion, the trefoil plans to offer an in-store program where customers run briefly on a treadmill to track their support needs. After the brief run, the customer will be able to walk out of the store with a Futurecraft 3D with a custom printed outsole complete with specifications that are solely individual to the wearer’s needs.

Today we get another look at the silhouette as a mesh upper is right in-line with other adidas running models while a truly original midsole sees a truly unique structure thanks to 3D printing technology. Check out  a full view below.
