You’ve seen the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star a million times before, but we guarantee you’ve never seen it like this. Just like Rihanna’s PUMA signature sneakers, Converse draws some inspiration from creeper sneakers, the classic thick-soled designs made popular by punk rockers and rockabilly types throughout the years. While these unsual Chucks don’t have a thicker sole, they do feature ribbing on the midsole just like creepers. The design also “reverses” the sneaker as we know it, placing the laces and tongue and the heel while a leather-stitched seam runs down the middle of the shoe. The out of place tongue and signature toe cap of the shoe are coated with striped wool to finish off the strange and creative design. Part of Converse’s “Celebration of Punk” pack, the First String Chuck Taylor All Star 70s is arriving now at finer Converse retailers like Bows & Arrows.
