Footpatrol Opens Exhibit Of Their ASICS Collaboration Archive

Footpatrol Asics Collab Archive 1

Most people don’t realize the amount of time and work that goes into creating the design of a sneaker, especially a collaborative effort with multiple specialists involved in the process. As part of Soho Speaks, a new series of intriguing in-store talks celebrating the people behind the brands and independents of the neighborhood, Footpatrol and ASICS got together to create an exhibit displaying and explaining their collaboration archive.

The exhibit showed off some of their best projects like the 2012 “Gel Saga”, 2015 Gel Kayano “Storm” and the 2015 Gel Lyte lll “Squads”. The shop also brought out samples of some of the earlier renderings to outline the process behind creating a collaboration and to help show why certain decisions were made to remove aspects of a design. ASICS color designer, Thor Geraldsson Hovland, helped lead the discussion and went into detail on the inner-workings of selecting a color palette for a sneaker creation.
