Nike Air Max 90/1 “Purple Basalt” Drops On September 1st

Nike Air Max 90/1 “Purple Basalt” Drops On September 1st

Nike’s design team has significantly upped their emphasis on hybridized silhouettes this year. We have seen numerous models borrow the boisterous Air bubbles of the Vapormax, and we have also seen Air Max classics come together a bevy of times to create re-interpretations of NSW icons. Early in the year, Sean Wotherspoon created the most identifiable Air Max fusion, with his corduroy-infused Air Max 1/97 that brought this aesthetic into the spotlight. In 1992, Nike initially tried combining the upper of the Air Max 1 with the sole unit of the Air Max 90, and the climate of the sneaker industry 26 years ago rejected the idea, sending it back into the vault. With today’s shift in consumer demands, there was no better time for the Beaverton Brand to bring the Air Max 90/1 back, as this design concept has been met with open arms. Having already released in an OG-inspired University Red version, this suede-dipped Purple Basalt colorway you see here is ready to greet the public on the first on next month.

Sporting a primarily tonal make-up, its refreshing shade of purple is broken up by a black midfoot Swoosh, heel branding, and a stark white AM90 sole unit. Grab another detailed look at the newest Air Max 90/1 hybridized design below and look forward to its arrival at global NSW retailers on September 1st.
