During the era where high-top leather basketball kicks ruled the market, Converse entered the scene with the ERX line of footwear. Terms like Energy Wave might ring a bell if you were around during the 1989 launch, and if it does hit that nostalgic note, then you’ll certainly remember Magic Johnson wearing the Converse ERX as well. Earlier this week, Converse officially unveiled the first-ever re-issue of the ERX with a collaborative effort with Chicago’s Don C. His Converse ERX 260 was dressed in pony hair materials and leopard prints, but it appears that there’s more to the partnership as Don C posted a photo on Instagram showcasing various details such zebra-prints, metal studs, and more. It’s clear that Converse is aiming the fashion/lifestyle market with these offerings, but let’s hope that traditional leather versions aka the OGs make a return as well.
