The Nike SB x NBA Collection Releases On October 13th

Through footwear and style, the game of basketball and the extreme sport of skateboarding are fundamentally connected at their core. Three silhouettes in particular, the Nike SB Dunk, the SB Blazer, and the Bruin were all originally designed as basketball footwear options, but were quickly adopted as lifestyle statement pieces for both casual and professional skaters. With this in mind, Nike SB has called on the NBA to release a collaborative collection centered around those three models as well as two pieces of apparel – a satin bomber and a hoodie. Co-branded, each of the five pieces equips the Association’s revered Jerry West logo, serving as an iconic symbol of the league and its unparalleled cultural influence. Premium materials are the theme throughout this entire capsule, as the purple-ridden Dunk comes done up entirely in satin, the feminine pink Bruin calls upon suede, and the angelic white Blazer equips over-tumbled leather.

“Growing up in Southern California in the ’80s was what got me into basketball,” Nike SB skateboarder Eric Koston said. “As a skateboarder, I’ve always looked at those early basketball shoes from an aesthetic standpoint — because the style was always cool — but also from a technological standpoint, because of the similarities in our need for impact and support.”

The majority of the collections is currently scheduled to arrive at Nike.com and other retailers on October 13th right before the 2018-19 season tips off, while the pink NBA x Nike SB Bruin and Hoodie will follow suit on December 1st.
