atmos Puts A World Map On Their Next ASICS Gel Lyte 3 Collaboration

When it comes to collaborations, few stores in the sneaker business go as hard as atmos. Their seemingly inexhaustible work ethic allows them to crank out thoughtful collaborations at a rate that’s borderline alarming, and the next model the Tokyo-based wizards have lent their touch to is the classic Asics GEL-LYTE III. Usually, collaborators opt to use the GEL-LYTE III as a skeleton for colorful premium materials like suedes and buttery leather. However, atmos isn’t in the business of “usual” — so they’ve opted to instead move the classic runner in a bold new cartographical direction, adorning it with a traditionally styled world map. The leather upper uses the ocean’s light blue as a base color, while colorful countries and scholarly black text provide both detailing and contrast. Patterned rope laces add a small extra pop of flair, and the look is then rounded off with more oceanic greys and blues on the outsole. These worldly kicks will release November 23d in-store at atmos Tokyo for ¥16,500 — roughly $146 USD — so if you’re not Tokyo-based, be sure to keep it locked here for info on a potential global release date as it’s available.
