Talented rookie guard R.J. Barrett is the next great hope of the perpetually bumbling New York Knicks, and he’ll be leading the charge in the Big Apple on more fronts than one as he’s also the freshest face of PUMA Hoops. Joining a roster packed chock-full of young talent like Deandre Ayton and Marvin Bagley III, Barrett will help PUMA continue the revival of their basketball line, and serve as a spiritual successor of sorts to Knicks legend Walt “Clyde” Frazier, whose Puma Clyde is arguably the brand’s most iconic piece of basketball footwear. Of course, Barrett’s college teammate and good friend Zion Williamson recently inked with Jordan Brand after being spotted in Pumas multiple times during NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, so it’ll be interesting to watch the competition between the two — both on-court and with their sneakers — over the course of their respective careers. Check out PUMA’s announcement video below, and be sure to keep a close eye on Barrett this upcoming season, as it’s likely he’ll debut new silhouettes and sport exclusive PEs frequently as well.
