Three Japanese imprints have recently come together to produce an eye-catching iteration of the Wave Rider 1: MIZUNO, mita sneakers, and 24Karats. Although the former two collaborated on a running silhouette last year, the upcoming 1998 model will now see contributions from the latter Tokyo-based athletic brand. Constructed with a drab olive upper/punchy orange outsole combination, the ’98 silhouette makes unmistakable nods to military themes, most obvious to the M-65 field jacket. Furthermore, coordinates to 24K’s and mita’s retail shops appear on the mudguard’s medial side. The Wave Rider’s upcoming iteration also dons interchangeable RunBird logos in black and orange. No official word has been given for a global release of this collaborative effort, but the pair seems to be coming to each Japanese retailer on December 16th for ¥19,800 with accompanying apparel.
