Jovani Hernandez There’s no denying that Travis Scott had one of the best years in sneakers given that he not only contributed to Nike SB’s mainstream hype, but also released a handful of highly-coveted shoes in collaboration with Jordan Brand of which his Jordan 1 High landed at #35 on our 100 Best Shoes of the Decade list. Although La Flame has brought compelling colorways and tweaks to Beaverton’s footwear catalog, all of his designs have kept the DNA of the models he’s used intact, but his upcoming Air Max 270 React dons completely different uppers. And Nike plans to add this transformed design to its inline releases beginning with two colorful pairs for kids.
Deviating from the drab tan Cactus Jack dress up, these two Grade School iterations of the modified lifestyle shoe are outfitted with vibrant palettes including yellows, reds, and greens. The predominantly yellow pair features hits of blue at the forefoot, lace guards, and outsole while candy cane-like overlays flow throughout the fore and midfoot, as well as wrap around the heel. Resembling a key detail of th Air Max Plus lineage, the same plastic lines animate the already attention-grabbing amaranth pair, but this time with a striped volt color. Elsewhere on this version, overlays are taken over by quieter purples and navys while random hits of orange pop at Swoosh branding and heel tabs.
From tongue tabs to wavy design lines, this model’s new elements lend themselves perfectly to Nike’s creative touch and will likely see a consistent release list in 2020.
