Retailer Above The Clouds Channels A “Sound Mind, Sound Body” With The ASICS GEL-1090

As retailer Above The Clouds embarks on their 10th anniversary, they’re set to celebrate more than a few milestones as they’ve since joined the ASICS family. In commemoration — of both the imprint’s esteemed decade’s length in business as well as the newfound partnership — the two are offering up the first collaborative GEL-1090 since the silhouette’s revival last year. Designed simple, the pair harks to the Japanese institution’s mindset of “Sound Mind, Sound Body,” drawing overt references to the mantra via text placements at both sides’ tongues. Elsewhere, matching blue tones dress the spiral insignia nearby as well as the subtle outlines that weave across much of the forefoot and heel. And while these overlays are pronounced by way of contrasting typefaces and ornate detailing, they’re backdrop is relatively understated as grey tones make up both the leather and mesh fabrications behind. The latter, which acts as the structural foundation, is relatively bereft of any markings — only a set of partially clear tiger strike logos seat their side profile.
