No strangers to collaboration, rich heritage, and quality, Converse and Carhartt WIP have teamed up for another Chuck 70. Unlike previous joint efforts, however, the latest high-top expands Converse Renew’s upcycling capabilities by utilizing pre-loved, canvas Carhartt workwear.
Sourced from Beyond Retro in the U.K., 1,000 pre-owned work jackets, trousers, and overalls from the Dearborn, MI institution have been cut into panels for the Chuck 70. Pairs vary from one another based on the condition in which upcycled garments have been found. Medial sides boast a brawn reminiscent of Carhartt’s faded duck jackets; lateral sides are constructed from navy canvas, while spines go black. While free of the camoglogue prints from past collaborations, the pair is branded with logos from both Converse and Carhartt across the tongue, insole, and license plate. Left shoes don a “CONVERSE RENEW” marker that nods to the collaboration’s innovative sustainability: This Chuck 70 has diverted more than 108,000 textile items from landfills.
The limited-edition Carhartt WIP x Converse Renew Chuck 70 arrives to Converse.com, Carhartt-WIP.com, and select retailers come May 28th. In the meantime, enjoy a closer look at the collaborative pair here below.
