Over the course of its 112-year-old history, Converse has witnessed its footwear products become staples across sport, fashion, and culture. This has perhaps been most clearly seen within the world of skateboarding, as silhouettes like the Converse Chuck 70 have enabled a seamless transition from ollie to Pitti Uomo. To celebrate its influence in the skate scene, the Boston-based brand is collaborating with Amsterdam-based Pop Trading Company on two playful pairs of the Converse Jack Purcell.
Constructed from ecru canvas and rubber, both the Jack Purcell Low and Hi indulge in varying color schemes. The shorter silhouette opts for a predominantly off-white arrangement featuring stark red contrasting foxing tape. By contrast, its taller counterpart boasts a navy and yellow arrangement sitting atop the same “Egret” sole unit. While each pair’s palettes nod to Pop Trading Company’s lighthearted nature, they also evoke the brand’s cool, luxe take on the skate culture its founders – Messrs Peter Kolks and Ric van Rest – have partaken in since their youth. Retro “CONS” branding appears throughout the lateral collar and left shoe’s heel; “POP TRADING COMPANY” text takes over the Jack Purcell models’ signature “smile,” while “x” shaped “POPOP” branding does the left shoe’s heel.
Continue ahead to enjoy a closer look at Converse’s upcoming collaboration and find pairs of the Jack Purcell arriving to select stockists on June 19th.
