Elliot Santiago Nike’s commitment to implementing more sustainable materials into their products was further brought into fruition once they confirmed their Space Hippie footwear collection this past February. Each piece of the four-pronged assortment features unique, technical and futuristic shapes, all of which have been rendered with a new Flyknit yarn, one that utilizes plastic bottle fibers, as well as recycled scraps to formulate a natural-yet-striking speckled detail that comprise its foam sole unit. And just before the collection supplies consumers with its first round of colorways tomorrow, it already has its eyes set into the not-so-distant future, 2 weeks from now to be exact, to welcome in its second batch.
Included is the Space Hippie 02, one of two of the laceless silhouettes featured in the capsule, and its second makeup has just been unveiled. Sock-like uppers have been coated with a concrete grey skin, while its interwoven stitchings alternate between stark black and volt green; the former of which is applied to the netted embroidery along the midfoot/heels, while the latter makes up the shape of its oversized Swoosh. All of this is mated by a white outsole with multi-colored speckles that peak out through its tiny crater holes, in addition to tongue/heel tabs fitted with stealthy backgrounds and angelic branding. Mark your calendars for a July 16th release on Nike SNKRS and through select retailers, and peep more photos below.
